Colleen Violet (Hooper) Dean, passed on Wednesday, December 25, 2019, at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital in Fredericton, N.B. at the age of 89, after suffering with heart disease. Born on June 30, 1930, daughter of the late William (Bill) Hooper and the late Edna Sharpe.
Born in Halifax, Colleen moved to Tide Head, N.B. in 1950, after visiting sister Dorothy and brother-in-law Chester the summer previous and meeting the love of her life, Chester’s brother Raymond. Colleen spent the last decade in Fredericton, with the last few months at Windsor Court.
She is survived by her five children: Ken Dean (Wendy) of Fredericton, David Dean (Maggie) of London, Ont., Judy Adams (Keith) of Campbellton,Doug Dean (Christine) of Darlings Island, and Beverly Douthright (Peter) of Purvirnictuq. Along with her children, Colleen is survived by 11 grandchildren and several great grandchildren, and sisters Dorothy, Lynne and Helen. Colleen was predeceased by her loving husband of nearly 60 years, Raymond Otto Dean, and siblings Shirley, Wayne and Reggie.
Resting at Maher’s Funeral Chapel, 64 Lansdowne St., Campbellton, from 9:30 a.m. on Friday Dec. 27, followed by a small family service at 11am.
The family would like to thank the staff at Chalmers Hospital, Windsor Court and a special thank you to daughter-in-law Wendy for continued visits and care since moving to Fredericton.
