It is with love and great sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Barbara (Armstrong) Dionne, which occurred peacefully at the Moncton City Hospital on December 4, 2023 surrounded by her loving family.
Barbara was born on November 2, 1948 in Sussex, NB to the late Edith (Robinson) and the late Harris Armstrong. She lived most of her life in Campbellton, NB, married to her soul mate, working as a nurse and raising two sons. Barbara was an accomplished seamstress and cook, she loved going for long drives and had fond memories of touring the USA with her family in a van, when her boys were young. She was quick witted and had a great sense of humor, she loved music and loved to sing, especially Country music. She had a wonderful green thumb and was very proud of her beautiful flowers. She loved animals and instilled that same love in her boys.
Barbara was married to the love of her life, Jean-Claude, for 48 years, it was love at first sight. They met on a blind date, and despite the fact that they didn’t speak the same language, love prevailed, and they were together from that day forward, until the day Jean-Claude took his last breath in May of 2019. Barbara missed Jean-Claude with her whole heart and soul and she was never quite the same after his death. We take comfort in knowing she is now at peace and reunited with her soulmate.
Barbara is survived by her loving sons, Stephan (Cynthia) of Moncton, NB and Eric (Amy) Dionne of Fredericton, NB. Her sister Sheila Drury, her brother in law, Roger Dionne, sister in laws Liette Methot and Claudette Dionne and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Manoir Notre-Dame where Barbara resided for the last few years as well as the Doctors, Nurses and staff of the Moncton City Hospital their compassion and care during this difficult time.
A graveside service will be held at Flatlands Cemetery on Friday, May 17th at 2PM.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Maher’s funeral Home, Campbellton, NB.
