November 5th, 2022.
Bob was born in Campbell River, to Lyn and Marge Early, where he grew up playing and
causing mischief with friends on Barlow Road and later working at EARLY’s Building Supply.
As an adult, Bob worked for many years as a float plane pilot for BCFP, Fletcher Challenge and
TimberWest, where he earned a reputation, amongst those that flew with him, of great trust and
skill at getting everyone home safe. Bob later traded his wings for work on the local waterways,
first as a commercial fisherman and then as the owner of Way West Water Taxi.
Bob leaves behind a legacy of many animated stories, including catching octopus on the willow
point reef, the troubles he found himself in at school, rolling his 67 mustang off the Campbell
River hill, landing a floatplane on the Comox logging road following an engine failure, playing
‘chicken‘ with dangerous wildlife, golfing, camping and playing cards with many life long
friends and family, also running the odd marathon.
Bob took great pleasure in being a ‘Papa’. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by
his daughter Kristen (Marcus); son Ryan (Glomy); grand children Josh, Mikayla, Julia, Olivia;
sisters, Bev (Mike), Elaine (Ron); former wife Gayle; and many nieces, nephews and life long
friends.
The family would like to thank Dr Prinsloo, the staff at Campbell River Hospital as well as
Evergreen Seniors home for the amazing care they provided to Bob during his illness.
Until we meet again Dad, enjoy your time smacking golf balls and cruising the eternal coastline.
A Celebration of Life will be held December 29/2022 at the Eagles Hall in Campbell River from
12 -3 pm. Please bring your stories to share amongst family and friends.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.suttonsfuneralhome.com for the Early family.
