Bob was born in Sapperton, New Westminster where he spent a happy childhood. He began working for CIBC during the summer months while going to UBC, and continued for nearly 40 years working in various branches across B.C. During his working life, Bob was a respected banker, and made lifelong banking friends and customers.
He spent many years with his wife RV-ing across Mexico during his retirement in the winter months. Throughout springs and summers, Bob would wheelbarrow seaweed around, pick blueberries using his elaborate coffee can system, and protect his wife’s garden from the deer and bunnies with his Red Ryder BB gun–always missing the target. He loved drinking coffee with his buddies at the Internet Cafe and riding the PNE roller coaster. He proudly hiked the Grand Canyon, learned how to cable at Mount Picacho and enjoyed eating Tacos de Cameron.
He loved music—Bob played guitar and harmonica and regularly watched live performances at the Tidemark Theatre. He also enjoyed independent movie nights and the Campbell River Film Festival. He was a kind man and a voracious reader. Bob was gentle, caring, modest and possessed a profound sense of humour and a playful spirit.
He was a family man first and foremost; a proud parent, and who cared very deeply for his wife, children, grandchild, nephews, nieces, brothers, sisters and friends.
Bob is survived by his loving wife Tanna of 49 years, son Adrian (Amanda), daughter Nicole (Todd) and grandson Jack, chosen-grandson Aethan and chosen-granddaughter Raven. He is survived by his sisters Marilyn (Ken) and Barbara (Steve-deceased), brother David (Kathy), and predeceased by his brother Don (Marilynne). He is survived by his brother in laws Clem (Debbie) and Randy (Jacquie). He also leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
The family would like to thank Pam and her wonderful staff at the Campbell River Adult Care Society for all their dedication and hard work.
By request of the family, there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Campbell River Adult Care Society building fund would be appreciated.
