Mary Ellen Block

BLOCK, Mary Ellen, late of Campbell River, BC, passed away on August 24, 2022 at the age of 89 years. Predeceased by her husband William, son Gordon and brothers and sisters. She is survived by her sons; William (Debbie), Ron (Christine Baxandall) and Gary (Deborah Gray), grandchildren, Jerry (Shannon), Casey, Darrell (Cindy), Jacquelyn, Thea, Megan, step-grandchildren; Ryan (Jacqueline), Chelsey (Ryan) and Daylan, numerous great grandchildren, brother Frank (Marilyn) Kynoch and many nieces, nephews and other relations.

Mary was born in Entwhistle, Alberta on April 13, 1933. She married William Block on May 5, 1950 in Drayton Valley, Alberta. Later they moved to Cortes Island in 1966 and enjoyed many years of WestCoast living. They moved to Campbell River in 1986 and enjoyed retirement and family times.

Celebration of life will be held at Sutton’s Campbell River Funeral Home, 502 South Dogwood St., Campbell River, BC, on Friday, September 9, 2022, from 2 pm to 4 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Campbell River Hospital Auxiliary Thrift Store where Mary spent more than two enjoyable decades volunteering her time.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Walker and all of Mary's caregivers for their kindness and help these past few years.
