Peter was born in Hebei, China and grew up in Taipei, Taiwan, where he lived with his parents, three sisters, and two brothers. He was an instructor in architecture and majored in hydraulic engineering at Chung Yuan University. Peter earned a Master’s Degree in Urban Planning at University of Chinese Culture in Taiwan. He met his wife of 54 years, Diana, in Taiwan, and they got married in 1970 in the United States. At Penn State, he earned another Master’s Degree in Urban Planning. He worked for the State of Pennsylvania as an Urban Planner and also in information technology. Peter was one of the original leaders of the Central Pennsylvania Chinese Association, and after his retirement from the State, he started the Evergreen Retirement group.
During his retired life, he enjoyed being an active member of his Chinese community. He was an avid gardener and cooked famous huge spreads of Chinese foods every time his children came to visit. Peter was most proud of his children and his grandchildren.
Peter is pre-deceased by his beloved mother Jiang Ruo-Lan, his father Meng Ching Yun, and granddaughter Ashley Meng.
He is survived by his loving wife Diana Meng, his son, Raymond Meng, daughter-in-law Julia Meng, his granddaughters Emily, Hannah, Sofia, and Sarah, as well as his daughter Cindy Meng Hou, and son-in-law Brian Hou.
A memorial gathering will take place on Tuesday October 8, 2024 from 2:00-4:00pm at Neill Funeral Home; 3401 Market Street, Camp Hill, PA 17011.
