Jeanne was a retired Home Economics and Special Education teacher, having dedicated nearly 30 years of her life to Cumberland Valley High School. She was a beloved member of the former Faith UCC in New Cumberland for almost 50 years, where she served as a Deacon and Elder on the Consistory. Jeanne was actively involved in various church activities, including Christian Education, Easter Egg Committee, and Fellowship.
Jeanne’s educational journey began at Lock Haven High School and continued at IUP and Mansfield University. Her passion for teaching positively influenced the lives of countless students throughout her career at Cumberland Valley High School.
In addition to her career and religious involvement, Jeanne had a wide range of hobbies and interests. She loved to read, crochet, sew, and continuously expand her knowledge. Jeanne’s passion for learning was evident, and she often expressed her desire to be a professional student. She was a compassionate and welcoming person who opened her home to others without judgement.
Known by many names such as Jeanne, Mrs. Snavely, Miss Jeanne, Sis, Aunt Jeanne, Mom or Mimi; she touched the lives of those around her with her unconditional love and kindness.
Jeanne’s family was her greatest source of pride and joy. Her daughter, Catherine Ailene Snavely, and her husband Jonathan Emig, her son Scott Lyman Snavely and wife Elizabeth, her granddaughter Caitlin Ailene Snavely Budden and husband Joshua, granddaughter Rebecca Sarah Ann Sholly and husband Joshua, grandson Bryan Christopher Lee Roemer, and great-granddaughter Adelaide Jeanne Sholly survive her. Her sister Donna Hoy Batschelet, her brother Jerry Lynn Hoy, and many nieces and nephews also survive her. Jeanne was preceded in death by her husband Ronald Lee Snavely, father John Bruce Hoy, mother Ailene Williams Hoy, sister Patricia Hoy Steinberg, brother John Bruce Hoy Jr. and sister Barbara Ailene Jacobs.
Jeanne will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of love, generosity and unwavering support will continue to inspire those whose lives she touched.
A viewing will be held on Friday, December 1st, from 6-8 pm at Neill Funeral Home, located at 3401 Market St, Camp Hill, PA 17011. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, December 2nd at Camp Hill Presbyterian Church, located at 101 N. 23rd St. Camp Hill, PA 17011, at 11 am. A visitation will take place at the church prior to the funeral service at 10 am. A reception/luncheon will be held at the church immediately after the service. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
