Robert Harrison McClurkin passed away peacefully into his heavenly home on September 20, 2024, after a series of strokes. He was born in Saskatchewan on February 10, 1942, to parents Robert and Evelyne McClurkin. When he was 3, the family moved to Cambridge, Ontario, which became his home for the remainder of his life.
Robert (Bob) is now reunited with his parents and brother Dave, who passed away in 2011. Those who had the pleasure of knowing Bob will remember his friendly smile and amusing stories. He will be greatly missed by his sister, Mary Hogan, sister-in-law, Gladys McClurkin, and his nieces and nephews, David (Sarka), Daniel (Rochelle), Debra (Geoff), Mark (Allison), Deborah (Jamie), Mary Lou (Jason), his great nieces and nephews and many friends.
Bob served with the Ontario Provincial Police for over 30 years and received special recognition for his service. He also served his community by making 150 donations of blood to the Canadian Blood Services.
Bob was passionate about attending stock car races at the Flamboro Speedway every Saturday evening. Anyone who wanted to join him was welcome. Bob loved people, coffee, gardening, walking, and engaging in small business ventures. He was a faithful member of Temple Baptist Church.
Bob was a kind and loyal friend, brother and uncle and will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 24 at the Coutts Funeral Home, 96 St. Andrews Street, Cambridge from 3 – 5 p.m. and 7 – 9 p.m. There will be a brief graveside service for family and close friends at the Mount View Cemetery, 80 Blenheim Rd, Cambridge on Wednesday, September 25 at 9:30 a.m. A Celebration of Life service will follow at Temple Baptist Church, 400 Holiday Inn Drive, Cambridge. Guests are invited to stay for fellowship and refreshments.
As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Temple Baptist Church or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
