We announce that Bob died at Innisfree House Hospice, Kitchener, Ontario on Friday, June 24, 2016 at the age of 79. Cherished husband of April Ann Black (nee Wells) for 35 years. Brother to Tim Black (Syd d. 2014) of Geraldton, Western Australia and Brenda Tuxbury of North Carolina, U.S.A. He will be fondly remembered by sister and brother in-law Heather and Ron Sutherland and family of Guelph, Ontario and by brother and sister in-law Greg and Dina Wells and family of Barrie, Ontario. Bob was born in Godalming, Surrey in the U.K. to parents John B. and Nellie J. Black (nee Hancock) on June 11, 1937. He immigrated to Canada in 1969 and worked as an Engineer for Pratt and Whitney Canada in Longueuil for 28 years. Bob and April were married on October 25, 1980 in Greenfield Park, Quebec. They moved to Cambridge in May, 1998 where Bob enjoyed his retirement by travelling, gardening, participating in P&W Retirees Club activities, regularly attending the YMCA Club and especially golfing all over Southwestern Ontario with close friends from Oakville, Mississauga and Newmarket. Bob’s happiest memories took place at those golf courses and especially the 19th hole. The family wishes to thank the staff and volunteers at Innisfree House for their compassionate care. Visitation will take place at Coutts Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 96 St. Andrews Street, Cambridge, Ontario (519-621-1650) on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 from 1 p.m. until the time of the Funeral Service to celebrate his life at 2 p.m. Cremation will follow. As expressions of sympathy, donations in Bob’s honour to Innisfree House, Kitchener would be appreciated by his family.
