I was so sorry to hear of Rex's passing. When I started with WRPS,in the Communication Bureau, in 1976, it was Rex who taught me 911 and dispatching. Rex had a fantastic sense of humour ... we would dispatch the "rookies" to a report of "missing ice skate ballbearings" ... He was caring and thoughtful. Rex will be missed. My condolences to his family.

You will always live in our hearts and prayers.

       I remember meeting Rex 42 years ago when was I was hired by Kitchener Police. He loved to see a new recruit because that individual became his next victim, of some practical joke. He will be up there grinning away today. He was a great mentor to a young lad, and had tremendous intuition.

Rex was the best dispatcher we had on the force and really took pleasure in getting the new recruits to locate the Catholic Post Office or the thieves stealing fuel from the sail boats at the Queens in Ayr. My deepest condolences to Rex's family

I worked with Rex on the Police Department for many years .... I walked the beat with him and drove a cruiser beside him and was dispatched by him . He was best dispatcher that I ever worked for . I am very sorry to hear of his passing and deeply regret that I will be unable to attend his funeral as I am out of town. His family can be proud as he was a fine officer . My condolences .

My deepest condolences to the Collard family. I got to know Rex when I started with the Kitchener Police Force in 1968. When I walked the beet Rex was doing the dispatching and also had a great sense of humor when doing so. I will never forget the time he dispatched a beat officer to look for the Catholic Post office in Waterloo and when the officer stated he found the regular Post office and was unable to find the Catholic one from his directions, just broke me up. Rex was always playing some kind of joke on someone. There are people you meet in your walk of life that make a great impact on your life for the better and Rex was one of them for me. Dear Margaret and Family,

I was saddened to hear about Rex's passing. In my student years, he was a fantastic mentor and colleague. 
He had a way with people that continues to influence the way I see my work and the world. His capacity for kindness and ability to understand will be missed tremendously by his colleagues, clients and friends.

Sorry to hear about my great friend Rex.It was Rex along with his great co-workers that helped house homeless people like myself and get our lives restarted in the proper way.I am truly saddened at the loss of such a kind and helpful person.May he rest in eternal peace and may God watch over his family.A true giant for the disadvantged is gone.

Rex and I were childhood friends in the Vine and Church Streets neighbourhood in Preston.  We lost touch after that, but I have fond memories:  my first sight of T.V. in Rex's livingroom in 1947 or '48; Rex's dad, Sam, taking us out for a hamburger; Rex getting sick after we had a contest to see who could drink the most water, and this was the very day that Rex and his family were to be off on a big trip! My condolences to Rex's wife and children.

Margaret and Family, the staff of Agincourt Community Services Association  are deeply saddened by Rex's passing.   Rex's time at ACSA as an outreach staff impacted the lives of so many, both clients and staff alike.  Rex will be remembered as a kind, gentle man with solid principles that guided how he carried himself everyday.  He taught so much to so many and gave of himself so generously....we share in your sadness.
