Penelope "Penny" Ann Smith

Survived by her step family of Peter Berkeley and Caroline Coltman, Stratford, Ontario, and children Kiah Berkeley Sorkin (mother Tracie Koskela) and Phoebe Berkeley; Janet Berkeley Maxwell and Craig Maxwell, Cochrane, Alberta and children Melissa Maxwell and Kenneth Maxwell; family in UK of nieces Amanda Shipp and Lauren Nee and Louise Raggett, Singapore.

Predeceased by her long-time partner Dr. Kenneth Berkeley of Cambridge, Ontario; father Wilfred Edward Smith and mother Rhoda Violet Smith of UK, sister Patricia Rosemary Nee, Michael Edward Smith and nephew David Smith of UK.

Penny grew up in Henfield, Sussex, England and graduated nursing from Guy’s Hospital in London, UK, upon which Penny was employed by Cambridge Memorial Hospital, Cambridge, Ontario in 1967 to pursue her nursing career.

Special thanks to the kind and compassionate staff at Hilltop Manor care home in Cambridge, Ontario and to all of the very kind caregivers in Penny’s life in her final years of which there were many. Thanks as well to all of Penny’s friends over the years in Cambridge and area, she shared a lot of laughs and wonderful times with all of you.

As per Penny’s wishes, there will no visitation or service.
