Otilia Chavez Bernal

Otilia is predeceased by her beloved husband, Candido Bernal, her eldest daughter, Edith Gutierrez (Pedro) and her daughter-in-law, Matya Kotlier.

Loving and cherished mother of Dorothy Hernandez (Manuel), Daniel Chavez (Isabel), Ricardo Chavez (Ana), Nohemy Good (Andrew), Olga Chavez (Leonel), Hugo Chavez (Rubia), Ana Zuleyma Chavez (Alejandro), Juan Carlos Chavez (Elida), Jaime Perdomo (Elaine) and step-mother of Mima Torres. Proud grandmother of 17 and great-grandmother of 15.

Otilia and her husband came to Canada with their children in April of 1990 to escape civil war and start a new life. Otilia loved Canada, and after settling in Preston, her family became part of the Spanish community and attended St. Clements Church for many years.

Friends will be received at the Barthel Funeral Home, 566 Queenston Rd., Cambridge, on Friday evening from 7-9pm, with prayers to be recited at 8:30pm.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday morning at 10 am at St. Clements Church, with Fr. Francisco Cruz officiating. Rite of Committal at Parklawn Cemetery.
