Dearest Marge,  I dearly regret not having spent more time with you. I missed knowing about your passing as we have been away.  You were my mentor when I was such a young woman and that was one of the reasons that I chose you to stand up for me as my matron of honour at our wedding in 1970.  You were always so beautiful inside and out, always so inspiring and trusting.  You are in my memories and I will never forget your wonderful smile.  John and I send your family our sympathies and wish their days filled with happy memories of times with you to make the days less sad.

Living across the country I didn't get to spend as much time with Nanny and Grandpa as I would have liked. That said, the summers I spent out there with them and the rest of the family are some of my favourite childhood memories. 

I couldn't have asked for a better grandmother... and nothing makes me smile more than a good story about Marge not letting her age get in the way of anything... no matter how reasonable using a cane or avoiding an unguarded stairwell may seem to the rest of us, haha.

We have many fond memories of Hank and Marg from their visits to NB.  I was glad to be able to attend her 90th Birthday.  We extend our sympathy to her immediate family and the Withey girls.

As my mother and Marge were best friends from public school days having her in our lives as well was a bonus. Some of my best memories from my early days are of visits to Galt, her lemon meringue pies, and many more. After our mother and Percy died, and Marge and our father Hank married, it further entwined our families, and it made my Dad a very happy and contented guy. My sisters and I also enjoyed more family times with this lovely lady. She was and will always be a very special person and influence in my life, and will be sorely missed.
Sharon

Marge has always been very special to our family. My Mother, Muriel Whitney and Marge were friends, went to public school together and were neighbours in the Hillsdale/Bayview area of Toronto. They continued to stay close as they grew up and had their families.

When Pam was born, Hank and Muriel went to see the new baby and decided that she was pretty cute. They decided that it would be nice to have a baby of their own and "voila", Sharon was born. 

When my Dad went overseas during the war, Mom and Marge continued to stay close and travelled by streetcar to visit. No-one had a car back then.

Sharon was 4 when Dad returned home. They continued a close friendship and Sharon remembers going to visit the Clarks on the streetcar from East York, Lumsden area to the outskirts of Toronto on the west side. One particular visit was long and it was very late, "pitch black" out as, described by Sharon on the way home. Sharon also remembers having sleepovers for weeks at a time with Pam visiting our house and Sharon visiting with Marge & Perci when they were young. It became a bit more difficult when we moved to Highland Creek. That was when Dad finally got a car but was away often with work.

Our families continued to be close as more children arrived. Now there were 3 young Clark's and 3 young Withey's. We used to vacation and visit together often. 

Marge went to work after Doug was born. It was very unusual and unique to have a "working Mom" in those days. She became very independant and had a drivers license and her own car. My Mom never drove or worked, so it was very unique for the times.

We had so many wonderful and fun times together with all of the Clark's. We were ecstatic when Dad announced that he was seeing Marge. They came out west together to visit. I was in Calgary and Arlene in Vancouver. Then they decided to get married which was even better. 

Marge was a very warm, fun, classy, special Lady. She brought our family much joy and I believe Dad spent the best years of his life with her, travelling here and there. It was just too short.

We all loved her very much. I will miss her terribly.

As long as I can remember Marge has been a part of my life.  As a little girl I remember going to visit Aunty Marge and Uncle Percy in "Galt" and spending summer vacations in Bala playing with the clay to make ourselves beautiful.

Years later when my Dad announced he was marrying "Clarky", I couldn't have been happier.  Our family embraced Marge with open arms as she did ours.  She enriched our lives with her love and I will miss her terribly.

I added some of my favorite photos and hope you enjoy.  Marge liked the one of my Dad and Percy and I remember her saying "oh look, my two loves".
