Margaret Elizabeth Cooper

1923 – 2015

Passed away peacefully at Freeport Health Centre on Thursday, April 2, 2015 at age 91. Loving and beloved mother of Judy and Len McKetiak, Ann and Alan McElhone, George and Rose Cooper, Patrick and Cindy Cooper, Mark and Jane (Young) Cooper, and Ted and Ardes Cooper. Cherished Grandma of Corinne Kempen, Mitchell McKetiak, Erin McElhone, Stephen McElhone, Bryan Cooper, Christina Levendoski, Megan Kerr, Patrick Cooper, Christopher Cooper, Mark Cooper, Emma Cooper, and Elliot Cooper and special Great-Grandma to Abbey, Liam, and Victoria Kerr. Sadly missed by sisters Dorothy Bell and Beatrice Rock, and sisters-in-law Verna Weiss and Mary Cooper. Predeceased by her parents George and Regina Weiss, husband Patrick (1983), brothers Melvin and Donald, sister Rita (in infancy), and brothers-in-law Robert Bell and Ralph Rock.

Mom was always the guiding force in our family. Her devotion to her faith and family and commitment to service of others was instilled in her by her parents and was important for her to pass down to her children. Her gentleness and humility concealed an incredible inner strength. This strength was especially evident in the years she cared for Dad during his battle with Alzheimer’s. To us, she could do anything. Mom made our life experience rich but not about money, helping us to see the value in simple things and the beauty of the earth.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, April 7th at the T. Little Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 223 Main Street, Cambridge, (519)623-1290 from 2 – 4 p.m. and 7 – 9 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Church, 53 Wellington Street, Cambridge on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at 11 a.m. Burial at Mount View Cemetery will be followed by a reception at the church.

To honour Margaret’s generous spirit, donations to Canadian Food for Children and St. Patrick’s Church may be made through the funeral home.
