After high school, Madeline met Don; they were married in 1954 and had four children, Lorne, Janet, Greg, and Jeff. Madeline loved being a wife, mother, nana, and great nana and was the happiest when surrounded by her family. She dealt with many hardships in life, including the loss of her husband and son yet bravely carried on with grace and lived her life to the fullest. She loved being an active participant in the lives of her family.
Madeline is survived by her children Janet Newbigging (Rick), Greg Purdy (Brenda), Jeff Purdy (Amy), daughter in-law Brenda (Lorne) and grandchildren Michael Purdy (Christie), Mathew Purdy (Csilla), Keri Newbigging (Grant McLellan), Amy Newbigging, Elise Purdy, Eric Purdy, Katie Purdy, Sara Purdy, great grandchildren Joshua Purdy, Megan Purdy, Jackson Newbigging, Evelyn Purdy, her favorite big brother Jim Freeman and many nieces and nephews.
Madeline is predeceased by her husband Don, son Lorne, her parents and sisters Lorraine Clifford, Dorothy Lamb, Kathleen Wills and Mary Thomlinson.
Madeline will be greatly missed, but her spirit will live on with her family and friends.
In accordance with her wishes, a private family service will take place. Burial at Mount View Cemetery.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by her family.
