Judy Lehtola, a beloved wife, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on April 3, 2025, at the age of 65. Born on June 6, 1959, in Toronto, Ontario, Judy lived a life full of curiosity, compassion, and connection. She departed this world in Cambridge, Ontario, leaving behind a legacy rich in love and lively conversation. Always early to the party, Judy will no doubt be the first to welcome her loved ones at the family reunion in the afterlife.
Judy is survived by her devoted husband, Michael Crabbe; her sisters Sharron Giroux (René), Sherry Kinton, and Ginny Battersby (Jean-Guy); her brother David Kinton (Zena); nieces April Ludwikowski (Jason), Kerry Battersby-Jeffery (Shane), and Kim St. Croix; nephews Brian Cantin, Mabrouk Etriki and David Smith; as well as many great-nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving parents, Harold and Ruth Kinton, and dear nephews Ali Etriki and Nick Giroux, and her cherished friend Sam Soloman. She is now reunited with her beloved cat, Babies, who held a very special place in her heart. To quote the lyrics of Sir Tom Jones, “And there to meet me is my Mama and Papa. It’s good to touch the green, green grass of home….”
Music was a great joy in Judy’s life, especially the music of Sir Tom Jones, whose voice and personality she celebrated with a passion. As an enthusiastic and active member of a Sir Tom Jones fan club Judy found more than just a shared admiration for her favourite artist; she found camaraderie with a vibrant community of friends from around the world. Through this musical bond, she built lasting connections.
Judy was a woman of sharp intellect and deep convictions. A passionate follower of politics, she never shied away from a spirited debate or a thoughtful conversation. She brought wit to every discussion and had a genuine interest in understanding people and the world around her. But above all, Judy was defined by her kind heart. She was generous with her time, quick to offer help, and always ready with a listening ear. She may not have measured wealth in material things, but her life was rich with love and kindness. She was a person others could turn to in times of need—a gentle soul whose caring presence made the world feel a little brighter.
In remembering Judy, it’s impossible not to smile. She was quirky, smart, loving, and fiercely loyal. To know her was to be welcomed with open arms, to laugh often, and to feel at home. As Irving Berlin once wrote, “The song is ended, but the melody lingers on.”
Judy’s melody will continue in the hearts of those who loved her. Her spirit, humour, and fierce devotion to her family, friends, and feline companions will never be forgotten.
A celebration of Judy's life will be held on Friday, April 25, 2025 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Coutts Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 96 St Andrews Street, Cambridge, ON N1S1M8.
As expressions of sympathy, donations in Judy's memory may be made to the Cambridge Humane Society and would be gratefully appreciated.
