John Rogerson (Roger) Jackson, 86, of Cambridge passed away peacefully at Hilltop Manor, Cambridge on Wednesday, May 25, 2016. He was born in Niagara Falls, Ontario on November 2, 1929, son of the late Richard Alexander Dewar Jackson and Eva Mae Jackson (nee Rogerson). Roger grew up on a farm near St. Thomas, Ontario, attended St. Thomas Collegiate Institute and graduated from Arthur Voaden Secondary School. He began his career with International Harvester but soon joined the Ontario Ministry of Transport as an Inspector in 1957. He was promoted several times within the Ministry of Transport until ultimately retiring as a Project Officer at the Ministry's head office in Downsview, Ontario. Roger was an active life-long member of the Anglican Church and President of the Brampton Masonic Corporation and the Peel Shrine Club. In addition, Roger was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion and a tireless and enthusiastic volunteer for many charities. He is predeceased by his late wife, Dorothea Marguerite Jackson (nee Locke), and by his brothers, Bruce and Winston. He is survived by his wife Nancy Reidy-Jackson, brother Stonewall, sons John, Steven (Karen), David (Felicia), four grandchildren Jessica (Mark), Katherine, Lauren and Derek, two step-grandchildren Justin Reidy and Christopher Reidy, and three great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Avery and Blake.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. A Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2016 from 9:30 -10:45 a.m. at St. Luke's Anglican Church, 1485 Mary Street, Cambridge, Ontario with the Funeral Service taking place at 11:00 a.m., immediately followed by a reception for family and friends.
