Jane went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, August 22, 2017. Jane’s life was shaped by her love of family and friends, her love of her church, and her love of being a politician. Her love of church was reflected in her tireless efforts as a part of the Lutheran Church’s impact, both locally at St. Peter’s in the Preston part of Cambridge, and globally. Her love of this city and its residents was reflected in her 36 years of service as an Alderman, Mayor, and Regional Councillor.
Her family wants to thank all the residents of Cambridge for giving Jane the opportunity to do what she loved to do; serve them, and Cambridge. We also thank those of you who would stop Jane at Zehrs or on the street to encourage her to keep up the great work.
Jane’s love of family was always evident, and we have always been so proud of her as a mom, sister, aunt, grandma, and great-grandma. She truly enjoyed her time spent with friends playing bridge, having Saturday morning coffee, or just chatting.
Jane was predeceased by her parents, Jack and Clara Davison, her sister Pat, brother John, daughter Donna, and son-in-law Andrew Swinney. We miss them all. Jane is survived by her brother Rick (Pat) Davison of Brockville, sister Gina (Ralph) Scheffel of Kitchener, Donna’s daughter Meredith Swinney (Sheri), and Donna’s son John (Sarah) Swinney. Loving mother of John (Kelly), their daughter Elisa (Brandon) Singh, and their children Lukas and Wyatt, sons Daniel (Katie), and Philip (Taylor).
Jane’s life was truly a life well lived. Her life has been well documented over the years, and most recently in the local media. We, her family, would like to thank all those in the media for their kind reporting of Jane’s life and death.
