Passed away peacefully, in the presence of his loving family and friends, at Cambridge Memorial Hospital, on Monday, January 31, 2017, at the age of 71. Jim was a stubborn and impatient man at times, but he was also very loving, a little bit crazy, and so much fun to be around. Jim knew how to enjoy a good laugh, a good drink, and a good life. He will be forever missed by his beloved wife Colette Toner. He was the devoted father of Jenny Toner (Chris Rember), Angela (Paul Bernardo) and Chris (Denice Dixon). Proud Granda of Jackson, Carter and Reese Rember, Tyler and Keira Galway, Josephine Bernardo, Ben, Thomas and Nicholas Dixon. Dear brother of Harry (Maureen) Toner, Eugene (Cathy) Toner, Maureen (Billy) Breen, Geraldine Murphy, Margaret (Tony) Hergarty and Kate (Pat) Murphy. Jim is also survived by Colette’s siblings, Geraldine (John) McGovern and Rory (Jean) Galway, his many nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, James and Kathleen Toner, and brother-in-law Johnny Murphy. The Toner Family would like to thank all the doctors and nurses at Cambridge Memorial Hospital on the 5th Floor and in the Intensive Care Unit for their care, compassion and support. Colette and Family would also like to say thank you to all their friends for their love and support from near and far during the past three weeks. To honor Jim’s wishes, there will be no formal visitation. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Patrick’s Parish (53 Wellington Street, Cambridge, N1R 3Y6) on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow in New Hope Cemetery, Cambridge. A reception following the interment will be held at St. James Anglican Church (520 Ellis Road, Cambridge N3C 0E6.
