J. Peter Kennedy

Passed away on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at Cambridge Memorial Hospital, at the age of 83 years. Beloved husband of the late Yvonne Kennedy (2014). Dear father of Victoria Clark (Gary), Jamie (Colleen) and John (Grace). Papa to Peter (Valerie), Andrew and Thomas Clark, James and William Kennedy, Kathleen, Lane and Jack Kennedy.

Peter and Yvonne came to Galt in 1963. He made it his mission to get to know as many people from all walks of life. He took over a small insurance agency naming it South Waterloo Insurance Agency to reflect the name of the Township and all of its communities. He served his community in many ways as President of the Victorian Order of Nurses, Chair of the Cambridge Memorial Hospital Foundation, as President of Insurance Brokers of Waterloo Region and eventually as President of Insurance Brokers Association of Ontario, he also served on the Ontario Pension Board. He obtained the rank of Captain in the Royal Regiment of Canada. Peter was a world traveller making it his business to know as much as possible about the people and places they visited and was always happy to share his good fortune with friends and family.

Friends will be received at Coutts Funeral Home, 96 St. Andrews Street, Cambridge on Monday from 2-4pm & 7-9pm. Funeral Service will be held at Central Presbyterian Church, 7 Queens Square, Cambridge on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at 11am.
