Irene Ferrier passed away peacefully on December 20th , 2018 at Stirling Heights in Cambridge, Ontario, at the age of 93.
Residing in North Dumfries for 51 years, Irene positively impacted the lives of many in her community through her various Board and volunteer work and in her profession as nurse and regional nursing supervisor with the Cambridge – Waterloo Regional Health Unit. Irene was a proud graduate of the University of Western Ontario where she obtained her BSCm. A beloved and loving mother,grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend, she will be dearly remembered by those close to her as a compassionate, caring, and amazingly strong woman with a keen wit and sense of humour.
Irene was predeceased by her dear husband John C. Ferrier in 1990, whom she was happily married to for nearly 39 years. She will be greatly missed by her children Deborah Armstrong (Don), John Ferrier, Cynthia Ferrier and, Christine Nagtzaam (John). Proud grandmother of Andrea Gottfried, Elizabeth Armstrong, Neill Armstrong, Michael Nagtzaam, Zachary Nagtzaam, Jane Nagtzaam, and predeceased by grandson Brent Ferrier. Irene was also the great grandmother of 6 sweet great grandchildren. Predeceased by her parents George and Jean Jackson (nee McNeill) and her brother George Ernest Jackson. Irene will also be missed by many of her extended family and friends.
Friends and family are invited to join the family on Saturday, December 29th from 12pm-2pm at Coutts Funeral Home and Cremation Centre located at 96 St. Andrews Street, Cambridge, Ontario. A funeral service will be held in the chapel at 2pm, with a reception to follow at the funeral home. Cremation is to take place at a later date. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Stirling Heights for their dedicated care and friendship over the last three years.
