It is with great sadness the family of Albert “George” Maidment announces his passing on Thursday, April 17, 2025 at the age of 85. He passed away peacefully at his residence in Cambridge, Ontario with his wife by his side. George was always the life of the party. He never wanted to attend a party, but he was always the last one to leave. George has been reunited with his loved ones who have also departed.
As a young man, he attended school to become a Draftsman. He worked at Babcock & Wilcox and Com Dev, until he found his true passion as a General Contractor.
He loved music. George especially loved playing his accordion for his children when they were young. In the last few years of his life, he became very connected to his religion. He was a member of the Salvation Army growing up and spent hours listening to hymns and watching church services.
Predeceased by his parents, Eleazar and Pearl, his step-mother Elizabeth “Lizzie”, his sister Norma, and his brother’s Russell and John. Cherished husband to Dorothy of 57 years. Loving Dad to Steve, Lorelee (Dan), Lisa (David). Beloved Granddad to Rachel and Rebecca. Fondly remembered, by his sister Bess and his brother’s Ted (Audrey), Nelson and many relatives. George was loved by all who knew him.
Visitation will take place from 11am-1pm on Wednesday, April 30 at Coutts Funeral Home, 96 St. Andrews Street, Cambridge, Ontario. Service and reception to follow at Coutts. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation on behalf of the family.
