The family of John Franklin (Frank) Blake are sad to announce he passed away peacefully at home on July 3, 2016 with his loving wife of almost 70 years, Bessie, at his side.
Frank leaves to mourn the love of his life, Bessie, his son Larry (Marjorie), daughter Diane (Bruce) and daughter-in-law Doris. He was a devoted Grandpa to 6 grandchildren, Cyndi, Miranda, Tara, Randy, Lisa and Bryce. His 9 great-grandchildren, Jeryd, Justin, Cole, Emma, Riley, Ewan, Valkyrie, Luke and Courtney filled him with pride as he followed their activities, whether in person or from a distance.
Frank had a variety of interests in his life such as stock car racing, refurbishing a 1930 Desoto, travelling the world, square dancing, church life and airplanes. His sense of humour, love of whistling and cheery friendliness will be missed by all who met him. Most of Frank’s working career was with Sun Canadian Pipeline.
Frank was predeceased by his parents, and siblings Lorne, Viola, Doris and George. Sadly, he was also predeceased by two sons, Bob (2011) and John (2015).
Cremation has taken place. Family and friends will be received at Barthel Funeral Home, 566 Queenston Road, Cambridge on Wednesday, July 13 for visitation from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. A memorial service will be held Thursday, July 14th at Knox Preston Presbyterian Church, 132 Argyle St. at 2:30 PM.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Knox Preston Presbyterian Church, Canadian Warplane Museum or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
