Doreen was born in Birmingham, England and during WWII was an Air Raid Warden. Marrying the love of her life Reginald in June 1947. In July of 1966, with 2 sons in tow, a big decision to make was a move to Canada, settling in to make Cambridge their home. A few years in, boys were billeted who had come over from England for work. Always a busy time!
Both Doreen and Reg were very involved in the United Kingdom Club on many committees as Lifetime Members. Also, becoming members, adherents of the Salvation Army, Loving God and her church family, enjoying the musicals, inviting many of their friends to come too! Doreen did not miss many Home League, Young at Heart or Ladies Night Out.
Favourite pastimes included reading, word search, watching Coronation Street and the Y & R. Not only were her eyes a brilliant blue, so were her favourite sports teams The Toronto Maple Leafs and the Blue Jays. Not missing many sporting events that the Grandchildren were involved in either. No matter where, she always had her beautiful hair done, jewelry to match every outfit and just a hint of lipstick.
Doreen was a wonderful pastry queen. Pies, tarts, sausage rolls, Yorkshire puddings and always her famous triffles which were brought to every family dinner.
A huge thank you to all of the PSW's and healthcare given. Especially during this Pandemic. From St. Luke's, for many months, to Park Lane Terrace over the past seven weeks.
Rest in Peace our sweet mum and nan. You are now able to join dad for a good hot cuppa tea. You were so loved while you were with us, you will be missed terribly. Missed but will never be forgotten.
Cremation has taken place and due to the restrictions surrounding COVID-19 no visitation will be taking place. A private family service will be held with Major Donna Simms officiating with inurnment to follow at Mount View Cemetery, Cambridge.
