She was born to Charles and Nancy Ratford on Bell Island, Newfoundland on March 26th 1954. Diane was one of three children: Charlie Ratford (Carol), and Fred Ratford (Kathy). Diane married the love of her life, Brad Rodgers, on July 20th 1974, who loved, cared, and stayed by her side till the very end.
Her loving memory will forever live on in her two children: Katie Holtz (Jon), and David Rodgers (Leanne). She will always be Nanny and holds a special place in the hearts of her two grandsons: Ayden Holtz and Ben Rodgers. She is also survived and remembered by her many nieces and nephews.
Diane had an undeniable zest for life, and she loved to travel. She went on many incredible adventures throughout the world, travelling right up until her illness prevented it.
Diane was a dedicated and long-term employee of Babcock & Wilcox in Cambridge, working her entire career there, and was well respected by her peers. While there, Diane was heavily involved in community outreach programs including: the food drive, United Way, and the Santa Claus parade. In retirement, Diane continued to give back for many years through volunteering with The Gleaners.
Diane loved gardening, and it showed through her lush backyard gardens. She could often be found helping her family, and neighbours, with their own gardens. She was also known as a master baker, sharing with anyone who was hungry, and was known for her butter tarts, and award-winning pies.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the Palliative Care nurses and doctors for their excellent care and compassion for Diane. We have the utmost respect for their dedication and positive energy. We would also like to express our sincere thanks to the many family members and friends who were there for Diane and her family during her final years.
