Beloved husband to Alice (nee Hardcastle) of 68 wonderful years. Loving father to Terry (Linda) and Bill (Margaret). Proud Papa to Brendan (Jocelyn), Trevor (Jenn), Leah (Jake), Shaina (Dean), Ben (Taryn), Aimee, Jason (Gloria), Allie (Jordan) along with his great-grandchildren: Sylis, Charlie, Theo, Kinsley, Will, Mason, Madison, Addison, Alexis, Samantha, Sawyer, Danny, River and Sunny. Predeceased by his parents Charles and Dorothy. Chuck will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his extended family and many friends.
Chuck led an active and engaged life, participating in various community activities. He was a member of the Probus Club of Cambridge, the Galt Curling Club and served on the board at Trinity Anglican Church, where his contributions left a lasting impact. His commitment to giving back was evident through volunteering at Cambridge Memorial Hospital and the hours he spent at the church.
After high school, he pursued a career in textiles at Dobbie industries and graduated from the Hamilton School of Technology. He spent the second half of his career at Allan Bradley until his retirement.
Sports were a huge part of his life. As an athlete he played hockey, baseball, football, golf and curling. As a spectator he was a big supporter of the Blue Jays, Leafs and Raptors. And any sport his family was involved in, he was their number one fan. Chuck's love for sports extended beyond the sidelines, as he graciously shared his expertise by coaching minor ball and hockey, contributing to the development of young athletes.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. Friends and family will be received on Monday, December 11, 2023 from 2-5 p.m. at Coutts Funeral Home, 96 St. Andrews Street, Cambridge (519-621-1650). A Memorial Service will be held the following day on Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at 2 p.m. at Trinity Anglican Church, 12 Blair Road, Cambridge.
Very special thanks to the nursing and medical staff at Freeport Hospital.
As expressions of sympathy, donations made in Chuck’s memory to Trinity Anglican Church would be gratefully appreciated.
