Charlie peacefully passed away with family by his side on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at the age of 72. He will be sadly missed but his life also celebrated. Charles is survived by his wife Monika, his children Christine and Jackie, his sisters Barb, Linda and Karen, 3 nieces, 1 nephew, and 2 great nieces, 5 great nephews and extended family. He is predeceased by his parents, Charles and Doris (nee Kelland) Hollett. Charles was a devoted husband and father, and a great friend to many.
Charles was a dedicated employee of the Canadian Armed Forces in Canada and overseas for more than 20 years earning various medals. After his retirement from the military, he continued with the Militia. He was then employed with the Ministry of Corrections for over 20 years, with a recognition medal for exemplary service. His family is proud that he was a lifelong volunteer and received many awards for different charities and organizations including within the militia, the Canadian Red Cross, and the R.C.M.P. He raised money for numerous causes. He was a proud member of the Masons for more than 40 years.
Relatives and friends will be received on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at the Barthel Funeral Home, 566 Queenston Road, Cambridge. The Masonic service for members will be held from 1:00 – 1:30 and visitation will be 1:30 - 3:00 pm. A short service will follow at 3:00 p.m. If desired, donations can be given in his memory to The Kidney Foundation.
