Wanda was an independent, strong, and caring woman. Born in Poland and raised in France and Belgium, Wanda bravely immigrated to Canada to join her husband here. She was a talented seamstress, loved to play crazy 8's, and worked for many years at Hostess Foods (now Frito-Lay). She was a faithful Catholic and loved to socialize and participate in many church activities. Like many of her generation, Wanda was not wasteful; she understood that if you came from nothing, you would value everything. Wrapping paper was saved from one Christmas to the next, and recycling was a must in her house. More than anything else, Wanda loved and valued her family, who meant everything to her. We will remember her for all those times we spent together as a family, especially the food she made for us, like her famous roast beef, or her perfect black forest cake.
Wanda will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by her daughters Loretta “Lodzia” Siminoski (Roy) and Shirley Donczyk (Ed), son-in-law Howard “Howie” DeSchryver, grandchildren Dawn Pielechaty (Craig), Denise DeSchryver (Carm), Dustin DeSchryver, Natasha Siminoski (Fernando Camara), Nicolas Siminoski (Victoria “Tori” Krigner), Nicole Donczyk (Ryan French), and Melissa Donczyk, great-grandchildren Alana, Jasmine, Hudson, and Cecylia “Cece,” and many more extended family members and friends in France and Belgium.
Wanda is now reunited in heaven with her parents, her brother and sisters, all her fur babies, her husband Antony “Tony” Kilczewski, and her beloved daughter Veronica “Vercia” DeSchryver. A visitation will be held at Barthel Funeral Home (566 Queenston Road, Cambridge) on Friday, August 23rd from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be at St. Clement’s Parish (745 Duke Street, Cambridge) on Saturday, August 24th at 2:30 pm with a reception to follow back at the funeral home. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Cambridge & District Humane Society in Wanda’s memory.
