Nowak, nee Prokop, age 96, beloved wife of the late John; dear mother of Dolores (the late John) Motkowicz, Joan (the late Ronald) Cortopassi, and Jerome (Patricia) Nowak; devoted grandmother of Rachelle (Roger) Alexander, John (Wendy) Motkowicz, Mark (Gail) Motkowicz, Kenneth (Ellen) Cortopassi, Zoe (Jason) Cooper, Christopher (Kimberly) Nowak, and Tamera (the late John) Martellotta; great-grandmother to many; fond sister of Marie Grabarczyk, Lillian Kowalczyk, and the late Edward Prokop and Bernice Prokop. Visitation Thursday from 4PM to 8PM at Hennessy-Nowak Funeral Home, 400 Pulaski Rd. (154th St.) Calumet City. 10:15AM prayer service Friday at funeral home with 11AM mass at St. Mary Queen of Apostles Church, 207 W. 145th St., Riverdale. Entombment Holy Cross Cemetery Mausoleum. Irene’s accomplishments include being a volunteer at Ingalls Memorial Hospital – Harvey (made toys for children in pediatric ward), member of the VFW #39 Women’s Auxiliary, and assisted at St. Mary Queen of Apostles’ rectory – Riverdale.
