A doting husband to Sandra K. Dy (33 years married) and loving father to their three children, Kimberly Dy, Kylie Dy Hernandez (son-in-law Raul Hernandez), Kevin Dy, and one grandpup Eva Dy.
Born in the Philippines, moved to Papua New Guinea and finally calling Canada his home, he always put his family first. He was a father figure to many and known to be a great mentor and dear friend. From an early age William was keen on keeping active, dabbling in ping pong, tennis, archery, competitive shooting, and cycling. An avid rider, William would ride 3-4 times a week, even during winter, and could hardly wait for the snow to melt before hitting the open road on his trusty bike.
“Kuya Will”, as he was often called by close friends, loved to travel especially trips centered around food. His only disappointment was not being able to visit his relatives in the Philippines in recent years. Detail oriented and meticulous by nature, his diligent self-study helped propel his career at IBM shortly after the move to Canada in 1996.
William will be dearly missed by all those who knew him.
A Celebration of Life will be held at SOUTH CALGARY FUNERAL CENTRE, 12700 Macleod Trail South (at Lake Fraser Gate), on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at 1:00 p.m.
