It is with profound sadness that I announce the passing of my partner Uli, age 71, who passed away peacefully in the arms of his love Jansje (Anne). He is survived by his beloved partner Jansje (Anne) Stollbert of Calgary; dog Coco; his mother Anneliese Steinbach; his brother Dietmar (Christina) with children Andreas and Claudia; sisters Ursula, Petra and Andrea all of Germany. He was predeceased by his partner of 40 years, Brigitte Nagel.
Uli, as he was called, gave up the fight after a massive heart attack on September 11, 2019. His heart, which he gave to so many people, lost the strength for himself.
Uli was known for his cooking and his entertaining ways in his two restaurants, The Bavarian Inn in Bragg Creek and the Barbarossa in Cochrane. Everyone who knew him, liked him. He was an avid hiker and skier. He was a member of the Schlaraffia Rocky Mountania for more than 10 years, where he was respected and liked for his humor, his poems, his story-telling, his dedication and his organizational skills in great detail. He will be terribly missed by all who knew him.
We will miss the twinkle in his eyes, his endless smile, his gentle and caring nature and his humour. How ironic that he was born on Valentine’s Day, the day of love. He had a great zest for life and an energy and love that radiated to those around him. That was my Uli.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Austrian Canadian Cultural Centre, (3112 11 St NE), on Friday, October 25, 2019 at 1:00 p.m.
