Wayne Amsterdam

Wayne was born June 15, 1960 in Edmonton, AB. Wayne’s family moved from Edmonton to the community of Varsity Acres in Calgary, AB, where he spent the rest of his childhood. Wayne went on to complete a degree in Broadcasting at Mount Royal College and later moved to Manning, AB to start a family of his own. Wayne started his own carpentry business and went on to build houses in southern Alberta.

Wayne loved taking his daughters on trips to Canada’s west coast, sailing with his parents and later purchasing boats of his own. Eventually, his love for the west coast prompted Wayne to purchase land on Galiano Island, BC and start a new chapter of life. Wayne enjoyed exploring the Gulf Islands by boat, riding his Vulcan motorcycle, and living on Galiano Island for about a decade before he fulfilled his last wish to pass away there.

Wayne is predeceased by his brother Gordon and daughter Ashley and survived by his daughters Teagan and Brigit.

A Memorial Gathering will be held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary, Alberta (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Friday, December 13, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
