I am so sorry to hear of Vals' passing. Val was one of the sweetest and kindest people i have met. At the beginning of the Gulf War he bought all these little comb brush sets for his fellow "sisters" and i still have it and think of him whenever i use it. We were also on an Air Evac course together.  Always had a positive word and encouragement when things got tough.He will be remembered fondly. Condolences to the family.

My deepest condolences to the family on the loss of an amazing man, with so many stories, and such a great sense of humour.  I always knew I would have a good day and lots of laughs when I worked with him in the OR at Foothills.  I last saw him in March, when I took this lovely photo of him with Delaine, not knowing it would be the last time I would see him.

Val and I shared many laughs when we were posted together in Germany and Halifax. He was always fun to work with.  We both ended up working  in the operating room at the Foothills hospital after retiring from the military. I will miss him. My condolences go out to his family , he talked of you a lot.

I worked with Val when we were deployed to Somalia together. I will never forget what a gentle soul he had. He was always smiling and always took the time to sit and talk with those of us serving with him. 

RIP Val 

I am greatly saddened to hear of the passing of Val.  I spent many hours working  with Val in the Operating Room of the Foothills Hospital.  As soon as I saw his smiling face appear I knew it would be a great shift.  Off to the orthopedic room he would head with never a complaint.  And the care he provided to his patients was second to none.  We were truly fortunate to have a man of his experience, compassion and commitment in our midst.  My prayers go out to all family and friends during this difficult time.

I worked with Val at the Foothills for many years. He was part of the orthopaedic team as I am. There are lots of memories to share , here is one. On his last day of work I asked him if he had signed all his charts in OR manager. With the wave of his hand he said he had none. When we checked he spent most of the afternoon signing charts. Val will always be remembered for his love of his beloved Keenan. He will be missed. 

I am so sorry to learn about the passing of Val.  I met him on tour in Bosnia, I remember a caring and engage nursing officer but also a friend for all of us.  Rest In Peace soldier.

Val and I met on tour in Bosnia 98-99 working in the ASU.  I remember his big smile and great sense of humour.  He was a wonderful nurse always eager to teach and help.  In the short five months that I spent with him I grew to love everything about him.  He will be missed.  My condolences to his family and to everyone that had the pleasure to meet him.  God Bless sweet angel.

Val was one of the kindest most gentle souls I ever had the privilege to serve with.  What a loss the world has suffered with his loss. Fondly remembered never forgotten.  Rest in peace my friend.

I first met Val when I arrived in Europe as a young Lieutenant Nursing Officer in January 1987.  Val was my sponsor, so he had found me an apartment, some furniture, transformers, and helped me settle into life in Germany.  We became great friends, and even traveled together to Paris and Normandy for my first trip on the continent.  Later, I also worked with Val when I got posted to Halifax later in 1993, when he worked in the OR and me in the ICU.

I will always remember his infectious laugh, his great sense of humour, his outstanding nursing skills, and his very kind heart.  Because we shared the same birthday (Feb 14th), I think of him every year, and will always continue to do so.

Val was posted to the Base Hospital at CFB comox at the same time that I was there as the hospital x-ray tech. This was in 198e/4?. Excellrnt nurse and the life of the party!.

I am so sorry to hear of Vals passing. He was a wonderful man with a smile that warmed everyone's hearts whenever he entered a room. As a Veteran, I worked with Vale at NDMC, Germany & during the Golf War. He was a small man but he had a big heart & an even bigger smile! A smile that greeted you every morning in the Operating Room, made you feel good whenever you were with him.  A smile I see now as I remember him! He was a good man who will be fondly remembered by his Military friends.


To the de  Jesus family and friends, my thoughts and prayers are with you for your loss. I  am blessed to have had the opportunity to know Val.  What a very special person. His beautiful smile that would light up a room and infectious laugh. So beautiful. Our lives intersected during our military careers. We first met while training and deploying to the Persian Gulf in 91, followed by being fellow students on the Senior Nursing Officer Course in 94. Then  together in Edmonton at the 1 HSOTU and lastly deploying to Bosnia in 98/99,  Val was an exceptional Nursing Officer. He loved his work and was dedicated to serving his country and providing  the highest level of care to our CAF members.  He also enjoyed life and I know he lived it to the fullest.  I met Val at the Foothills Hospital operating room.  As a co-worker he always loved to share stories and pictures of Keenan during breaks.  He also seemed to love kitchen gadgets. We would talk about that too.

It is with great sadness to hear of Vals passing. I got to enjoy knowing him through working as Registered Nurses at Foothills Operating Room. He was on Orthopeadic team as I served on Spine teams so, so many times we got to work together. I know he will be missed.

I am glad I had the opportunity to meet and know Val  as a  result of attending many family events. He was a very accomplished man .My deepest sympathies are extended to his family.
