Thomas "Art" Arthur Moore

Art Moore passed away peacefully at the Rockyview General Hospital on Tuesday, March 11th, 2025 following a brief battle with cancer. He was born in Calgary on March 10, 1942, and grew-up in and around High River, Alberta before making his home in Calgary. Art was employed by the city of Calgary as a firefighter for over 24 years before retiring in 1995. Prior to joining the fire department Art did a variety of work including long distance trucking, farming, mechanics, and auto restoration which later turned into a retirement hobby. Whatever Art was working on became his passion of the day, week, month, year, grabbing his full attention until the task was completed. When he put his mind to something it was done. He also played in the same manner: and enjoyed golfing, skiing, fishing, and camping.

For over 20 years, Art and Liz, his wife of 59 years, happily spent their winters in Arizona where Art's passion became antique cars. In the Phoenix area, where they lived, he found many really great antique cars and clubs. He was a member of several small clubs and one of his favorites was Desert Kustoms, Apache Junction. Back in Calgary during the summer months, he attended many local car shows and was a member of Northern Mopars.

In his later years, as his health deteriorated, he spent more time catching up on news and enjoying pets, especially the family cat.

Art is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (Liz) and their son and daughter-in-law, Lyle Moore and Renee Ducharme as well as his sister-in-law Sylvia Moore and her family; his brother-in-law Marvin Knoch and his family and his sister-in-law Marilynn Knoch as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Art was predeceased by his parents Thomas (1952) and Loraine (1998) Moore (Randle) and his three brothers: Wayne (2019), Robert (1993) and Kenneth (1947); sister-in-law, Darlene Knoch, and brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Jean Hackett.

As per his request, there will be no service. A private family celebration of life will be held later this year.
