Steven William Young

Steven Young passed away on Tuesday, September 22nd. He was born in Cali, Columbia, South America to Gloria & Bill Young. He became an important and valued member of his community here in Calgary, Alberta.

He attended and graduated from James Fowler High School in NW Calgary. Steven obtained his degree at SAIT. He worked many years in various locations in Western Canada as an electrician in the oil and gas service industry.

Steven enjoyed playing tennis at an early age. One of Steven’s favourite hobbies growing up, however, was playing the guitar. He would often play gigs with his friends and was recognized as an exceptional guitar player. He was also a collector of many different types of guitars. He spent many hours practicing and playing the guitar in his home. His other passion was golf; he loved to play with his dad and close friends.

He enjoyed travelling to visit family and friends in Colombia and the United States.

He will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his parents, Gloria and Bill; his uncles, Harold, Fernando, and Aurelio; his aunts, Eveline, Ines, Ana Milena, Marta, and Floralba; his cousins, Kathy, Cameron, Alejandro, Ana Fernanda, Angela Maria, Juan Felipe, Juan Jacobo, and Santiago, as well as many extended family and friends. He will be missed by his dear friend, Lydia Johnston. Steven adored animals and will be mourned by his family’s furry companions; Frankie, Donatella, Rafi and Baby Louie.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude for the outpouring of love from Steven’s childhood and school friends; it has been overwhelming.

We will see you soon, our beautiful son! You will be forever in our hearts, love Mom and Dad.

A Celebration of Steven’s Life will be held at a later date.

Memorial donations in Steven’s name will be gratefully accepted by the Meow Foundation.

Your outpouring of memories has been overwhelming. We cannot put into words how much it means to us as Steven's parents.
