I am so very sad to hear of Stephen’s passing. Stephen was so proud of his beautiful family and spoke so fondly of you all. I just loved working and talking with him. I can tell from reading other people’s remembrances that I was not the only one who thought he was a sweet and funny fellow. He used to call me “Dude” and “Karen fricking BLISS” when I’d call or email him. It always made me laugh.  He would always have something funny and kind to say to me when we would chat. I was sad when he moved out of our team as he always brought such a wonderful vibe and he was just so darn intelligent. Please accept my deepest condolences as you attempt to process your loss. My heart goes out to you all.

I was shocked and saddened deeply to learn of Stephen’s passing. I worked along side him for many years and always enjoyed his company and infectious laugh. My fondest memories are of our spontaneous coffee chats together.  You know, the ones where I was peacefully enjoying my coffee on the mezzanine alone, and you spotted me, and you plopped your butt down in the empty chair in front of me and said, "What up, Bruh?"  Being 20 years older, I'm thinking, dude, what's a bruh?  But I quickly realized I had made it to the cool kids club because you never called me by my first name. It was either bruh or Oberg.  We would laugh and bond over our inappropriate humour, and even though you might not have been officially invited to those coffees, I now realize that our souls were meant to meet, and I will forever feel blessed that we shared those moments.

To Wei, Austin, Avery and family - there are no words to ease the loss, but Stephen was a gift, and we all thank you for sharing him with us.  His spirit will live on, and I will always have an imprint in my mind of that big smile.

I worked with Stephen more closely a couple years ago, but even since then always enjoyed his light hearted humor, and his ability to bring laughter to almost every situation.  With us both having young kids, there was always something to laugh about. May God give you peace during this time. He will be deeply missed.

I was and still am lost for words and can't believe what has happened. I'm so sorry I failed you and that I couldn't catch his fall. I should have tried harder to help. I always told Stephen to live with no regrets, but this is something I will regret for the rest of my life. 

Stephen and I used to joke that we were like brothers from another mother. This holds true because not only was he my oldest friend, but he was also my best friend. He was wise beyond his age and I looked up to him. 

Stephen and I were in many of the same classes in school and later worked together at the same job after  highschool.
He had a huge role in teaching me how to drive stick, and we perfected the art of power sliding our cars after work in the parking lot in the winter. I still remember when he drifted around me in a circle while impressing bystanders and security alike.
We drove identical cars and shared a passion for motorsport with the FnF franchise being at the heart of it.

Stephen, you'll forever be missed. Rest in paradise, brother.

Under the most terrible of circumstances I am thankful to find joy in sorting through my memories of working with you. Who else would have introduced me to the world of fine sneaker collecting! My deep condolesences goes out to Stephen's family. Stephen was one of the first people I had the honour of befriending after I arrived in Calgary. I remember his laughter, his jokes, his kindness, and his willingness always to lend an ear. We would often go on lunch walks where he shared his work stories and CFA tips. I still have the exam materials he lent me and I will cherish those now as the lasting relics of our friendship. My deepest condolences on your loss. I worked with Stephen at Shell early in his career and he was one of my favourite employees. So smart and curious. After a time, he called me Sensei (teacher) and I called him Grasshopper (student) modelled after an old tv show from the 70's. He loved to learn and was a warm, light-hearted person that was a great part of the team we worked with. Even after I retired, we kept in touch at least once a year. He always talked about his family with such love and respect.
