Stan was born April 25, 1952 in Tolstoy, Manitoba. He spent his childhood working outdoors on the farm under his favourite prairie sun, and although he would come to leave rural Manitoba, he never lost his love for big blue skies and radiant sunshine. Always curious and industrious, Stan was a true ‘jack of all trades,’ having owned several businesses in Winnipeg and Calgary, and having held a wide variety of occupations.
Eventually, Stan accumulated enough knowledge to be able to build his own house, and he did just that, spending the last 12 years of his life renovating and perfecting his Calgary home, which stands as a true testament to his skill, artistry and craftsmanship. Stan was a brilliant craftsman who didn’t know how to do things halfway, which was pretty much his exact approach to all things in life. Whatever project he took on, he did it 110% (and then he glued and screwed some more on top of that!) People close to him would always mention the specialness of the “Kozak Touch.”
Stan lived life with a very big heart, which he wore always on his shoulder. He was quick to tell a silly joke (and then another, and then another!) and he was always so generous - to friends and strangers alike. Whether he was buying someone lunch, lending them his tools, painting their living room or giving them a piece of furniture he expertly refinished, Stan undoubtedly gave more than he received.
Stan is survived by his two sons, Brooklyn and Keith, who were the true joys of his life. A supportive, involved and dedicated father, Stan was exceedingly proud of his boys, and was quick to tell them (and everyone else) at every opportunity. He will be missed.
A Celebration of Life was held at South Calgary Funeral Centre, 12700 Macleod Trail South, (at Lake Fraser Gate) Calgary on Monday December 5, 2011 at 1:00 p.m.
