Shirley Joyce Grieve Almond

She is survived by her children, Joyce Sorensen (Lloyd Houston) and Jerry (Grace) Almond; grandchildren, Jason, Melissa, Jamie (Heather Mayberry), Stephanie, and Jennifer as well as great grandchildren, Matthew, Brooklynn, Parker, and Olivia. Shirley is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Neil Almond, in 2004. Shirley was born and raised in Drumheller, AB and moved to Calgary to go to school to become an x-ray technician. She was active in skiing and hiking into her 70’s and swimming and playing bridge into her 80’s. Shirley was an active member of the Alpine Ski Club.

A Memorial Service will be held at Scarboro United Church, 134 Scarboro Avenue S.W., Calgary on Thursday, May 29, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made directly to the Canadian Cancer Society, 200-325 Manning Road N.E., Calgary, AB T2E 9Z9.
