Sandy immigrated from Toishan China at the age of 14 and initially settled in Red Deer AB. He married Ngan Ping Wong on November 20, 1957 and soon their family grew with the addition of sons Arthur and Stanley and daughter Selma. In the fall of 1972, the family moved to Calgary where Sandy became chef/co-partner of the Silver Gate Restaurant in Ogden where they operated successfully for many years. In 2000, Sandy retired and proudly dedicated many volunteer hours with the Mah Society, Cando Musical Society and Calgary Chinese Free Masons. He also enjoyed extensive travel with his wife and spending time with their grandchildren.
Sandy is survived and will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 61 years, Ping, sons; Art and Stan (Anne), daughter Selma (Troy), grandchildren; Max, Natasha, Daniel, Ginelle, Kezia, Madi and a large extended family and many friends.
The family wishes to extend their thanks to the medical and support staff at the Rockyview Hospital’s ER, Units 94 and 82, and the Southwood Hospice for their compassionate care.
