Roy, beloved husband of Margaret, passed away peacefully at Newport Harbour Care Centre at the age of 86 years. Roy was proud to be a native Calgarian and a member of the Calgary Highlanders Pipe & Drum Band. He worked for Alberta Pacific Grain where he met Margaret, the love of his life. He was a valued employee of Hudson’s Bay Oil and Gas, which later led to administrative positions in Australia and Indonesia with Hudbay Oil. Roy was a gregarious person who enjoyed the company of others. He loved to sing, tease and tell jokes. Roy was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. His interests included curling, golfing, music, photography, gardening and his beloved Westie dogs. Roy is lovingly remembered by his wife of sixty-two years, Margaret, and his children Terrie Skulsky (Don), Brent Hawthorn (Marjorie) and Leslie Lewis (Gregory). Grandpa will be dearly missed by his grandchildren Dale (Jennifer), Jennifer (Casey), Thomas, Nicole, Edward and Carolyn and his great granddaughter Rachel. Roy is survived by his brother Bill, and brother-in-law Gordon Schey. Roy was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Gladys, and sister Fay. Sincere thanks to the staff at the Harbours of Newport Seniors Residence and Newport Harbour Care Centre for the loving kindness and support extended to Roy.
