Rosemary Johnson passed away in Victoria, BC on Sunday, June 2, 2013 at the age of 97 years. She was born in Montreal, Quebec on August 25, 1915, and moved with her family to Alberta when she was 4 years old. Rosemary is survived by four daughters: Deloise (Julius) Kupi, Sandra (Thys) Rinkel, Shirley (George) LaBrash, Melvina (John) Kari, and two sons, Melvin (Marilyn) Johnson and Gerry Johnson in addition to 56 grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Oscar Johnson and her companion, Mel Hanson; her daughter Doreen Rozon; grandson Bobbie Kari; her parents Paul and Emma Lord and three sisters. Rosemary worked for Alberta Government Telephones for 25 Years as an operator supervisor. Mom enjoyed many years camping with the family and later spending winters in Arizona with dad. Rosemary moved to Victoria, BC in 1993 where she was a member of the Friendship Club. After meeting Mel Hanson, they sailed on the Queen Elizabeth and the Orient Express. She spent the last three years in the Selkirk Manor and was very much appreciative of the staff. We will always miss you and loved you very much, you are now at peace. A Memorial Service will be held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Friday, June 14, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. Interment of the Urn will follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens in Calgary, AB. If friends so desire, donations in Rosemary’s memory may be made directly to the charity of one’s choice.
