Roger William Evans

Roger is lovingly remembered by his wife, Roxanne; children, Shelby, Tricia (David), and Sean, along with his granddaughter Emma, and grandsons Ace and Arlo. He's also remembered by his sisters Judy Evans, Susan (Paul) Crawford, and his brother Richard (Loretta) Evans. He will be missed dearly by his extended family, and many friends who were considered family.

Roger is predeceased by his parents, Ernest and Elinor Evans.

Roger was born in Lachute, Quebec on December 8th, 1953. He is the youngest of the four children of Ernest and Elinor Evans. He resided in his hometown until not long after he graduated high school, when he then moved to Calgary, Alberta, where he ended up building his life, family and career.

His first son Sean was born in 1982. Eventually, his job at Centennial Food Services would lead him to meet his wife, Roxanne. They had 2 children - Tricia in 1983 and Shelby in 1986. They shared a fulfilling, busy family life.

He took an immense pride in his work. He was an accomplished manager at Centennial Food Services, and retired from his career in the industry after 35 years.

An avid sports fan, one of Roger's greatest passions was golf. He was also a faithful Toronto Maple Leafs fan, and loved cheering for the underdog.

Roger went through a significant health crisis when he was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer during the pandemic but his illness had been well managed. He was very blessed to have the support of Kristine Anderson-Pickell, with whom he shared his life and a very special bond over the past few years.

People that knew Roger will fondly remember his sense of humour, kindness and his selflessness - always willing to help out anyone in need. He will be deeply missed by those he loved, and who loved him.

A Celebration of Life will be held at South Calgary Funeral Centre and Crematorium (12700 Macleod Trail SW) on Friday March 3, 2023 at 11:00AM.
