Robert (Bob) Douglas Sneddon passed away peacefully amongst family on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at the age of 88 years. A native of Taber, Alberta, Bob moved to Calgary with his family in 1932 where he has lived ever since. He attended Central High School and served overseas with 405 Squadron, Royal Canadian Air Force from 1940 until demobilized with the rank of corporal in 1945. He also served in the peacetime air force as a bandsman with 403 Squadron. He served the people of Calgary as a member of Canada Post until his retirement in 1986. Bob is survived by Helen, his wife of 65 years; his son Tom (Maria) and daughters Kathy (Wayne) Eirich and Theresa (Bruce) Schellenberg, all of Calgary; and 8 grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Georgina (Ena) Knowler of Red Deer and predeceased by his parents Tom and Marian; his brother Charles and sisters Helen (Nelly) Butterman, Elizabeth (Bessy) Goldie, and Margaret Ritchie. A Funeral Service was held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at 3:00 p.m., with interment following at Queen’s Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Bob’s family would deeply appreciate memorial donations may be made directly to Calgary Health Trust, Colonel Belcher Care Centre 800-11012 Macleod Trail S.E.
