Richard Jonathan Summers

Richard is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 50 years, Linda; loving daughters Monica (John) Vettergreen of Calgary; Laura (Kevin) Taylor of Strathmore and son Ryan (Gay) Summers of Calgary, his loving grandchildren Haley and Quinn Taylor and step grandchildren Stefan and Alyssa (Chad), Taylor and Brooklynn and Boston Hickey. Sister Sharen (Lawrence) Herasymuik, brother-in-law Elton (Jan) Chorney, and mother-in-law Joan Chorney.

Prior to Richard’s retirement, he worked as a HVAC and Refrigeration Technician. During his career, Richard was involved with the Executive of the local chapter of his union. He was also President for two terms on the Fraternal Order of Eagles – Aerie 2098 Calgary. He was an avid mountain and ice climber. Richard and his climbing partner accented for the first time on an ice fall and were able to name it Combo Falls which gives credit to them in a book about rock and ice climbing in the Banff and Lake Louise area.

The family requests that memorial donations be made to a charity of the Donor’s choice.
