It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Renate Gertrude Schulz on Monday, March 24, 2025, in Calgary at the age of 80 years. She was surrounded by her loving family when she was called home.
She immigrated from Austria in 1961 with one of her sisters and her mother to reunite with the remainder of the family residing in Edmonton.
Renate took great pride in raising her two children and working with the City of Calgary Pools Division where she started as a Swim Instructor and advanced to a Lifeguard, Senior Attendant and Supervisor during her career. She worked hard, took great pride in her work and kept everyone in line along the way.
Her friends and family were everything to her and she expressed her love thru entertaining. She loved to cook, bake, host luncheons, open houses, dinners, family gatherings and parties. One never left Renate's home hungry.
She was an avid traveler and a lifelong learner who believed you’re never too old to grow and discover. She had a keen mind and was a strong supporter of scientific research.
Renate was a faithful member for 62 years at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, where she took on a creative role in her later years. She took pride in brightening up the bulletin boards throughout the church with her carefully designed posters and was constantly on the hunt for her next inspiration.
