Ramona Noreen Stirling passed away peacefully at home on February 9, 2022 at the age of 63 years. Ramona is survived by her sons Ewan Duncan Stirling and Neil Alexander Stirling; grandson Shayden Thomas Stirling; and mother Roberta (Harvey) Dersch. She was predeceased by her father Wilburt Garnet Stevens, brother Laurie Stevens and husband Thomas Stirling.
Born in The Pas, Manitoba, Ramona was raised in Fort Macleod, Alberta. She began teaching in 1980 and specialized her teaching career in helping special needs, ADHD, FAS and high needs youth on reserves. She married Thomas Stirling and together they toured Europe and settled in Calgary in 1990.
Ramona was a part of the dog community for over 30 years. She founded Mrang Kennels and was heavily involved in agility, flyball, obedience and confirmation, winning numerous titles and awards. Ramona was one of the founders of the Alberta Junior Kennel Club (AJKC) and was involved in SuperDogs, Cruisin' Canines, Poodle Club of Alberta and Poodle Club of Canada and many other dog clubs and organizations. She was an enthusiastic animal lover of horses, dogs, cats and birds. Ramona would always put herself last and would try to help and support in any way that she could. She also had a love for sewing and arts and crafts.
A Visitation will be held prior to Ramona’s Celebration of Life at 11:00 a.m.
A Celebration of Ramona’s Life will be held at SOUTH CALGARY FUNERAL CENTRE, 12700 Macleod Trail South (at Lake Fraser Gate), on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. Ramona’s service will also be livestreamed.
