My deepest sympathy to all of you. Phil was the first guy I met when I lived at St. Joes at the University of Alberta. I have great memories from that time with Phil from playing pong, sitting in the cafeteria late at night slamming squares, watching him spin his pencil around his thumb and going to the Joes dances.  I was shocked when I heard from Lee Haire that he passed away.
He was very gifted and will be missed.  My thoughts are with all of you at this very difficult time.

As a kid, Philip was our favorite babysitter. I remember thinking "Philip will let us do whatever we want." It was all fun and games until 7:57, when were given three minutes to brush our teeth and get into bed.

When I had kids of my own, and my Mom was babysitting the whole lot of them one time, I asked if she was sure she could handle it. The answer was "Well, I'm no Philip Heaton, but I'll manage."
