Paul Chee Ming Wong passed away peacefully at Foothills Medical Centre on Monday, December 5, 2022 at the age of 68 years. Paul was born in Hong Kong and raised in Tai Po where he grew up with his 7 siblings.
Growing up, Paul had a passion for going out to socialize, playing sports, shopping, and dining in a variety of restaurants around the Hong Kong area.
When Paul became an adult, he moved to England to work in the restaurants of his older siblings, learning how to cook and work in the hospitality industry. After some time, Paul migrated to Calgary in 1984 to join his family and to pursue opportunities in Canada, where he met his wife, Jaimie Li.
Paul and Jaimie got married and had a son, Philip. Together as a family, they all enjoyed shopping and traveling around the world. Paul had a keen interest in sports which he passed on to his son; he also enjoyed doing home renovations and was known by his family as a crafty man. Paul worked in the Westin Hotel and Safeway as a cook until he retired.
Paul is survived by his wife, Jaimie and son, Philip; his brother Sonny, brother Keith and his wife Chun Tai Mo; his sister So-Tai and her husband Loi Hing Yung, sister Jane and her husband Hubert Chan, sister So-Hing, sister So-Ling and her husband Steve Poon, sister Susan and her husband Anthony Lam, and their families.
Paul was predeceased by his brother-in-law Tak Ming Yan.
Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at St. Luke’s Catholic Parish, 1566 Northmount Dr N.W., Calgary, Alberta on Thursday, December 15, 2022, with a Visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m.
Interment will follow in Queen’s Park Cemetery, 3219 4 Street NW, Calgary, Alberta.
