Aunt Pat and my mom were so close - I hear them laughing together.  I see them cooking together.

I will miss Aunt Pat deeply.  She was always so upbeat and warmth emanated from her.  Certain memories of her have come to mind.  They bring a smile to my face.

Mom and Dad married in 1953, an arranged marriage in Bok Kin-Sui How, Hoy Ping (Kaiping), China.  Dad sponsored Mom and she arrived in Lethbridge, Alberta in September 1958. 
Cousin Joy remarked recently, "What a wonderful couple! They had an arranged marriage where (Uncle Ken and Aunt Pat) actually like(d) and love(d) each other!" 
My parents worked at maintaining a healthy life balance and laughter was so much a part of it.  I have videoclips that show  that 'fun' and Mom's love for singing. 
Mom and Dad (or anyone who happened to be at their home) made these wo tip pot sticker dumplings in 100+ batches (or other yummy dim sum treats). Some of them were eaten fresh and then frozen for later use or given away.  Mom used a Chinese cleaver and chopped the pork butt.  We purchased a grinder for her but she preferred hands-on. She never purchased ground beef or pork. Mom always embedded her minutely diced home grown and preserved turnip into her dumplings. 
While growing up Mom played various types of Chinese music in our home. At the same time she busily managed 4 kids, Dad, paternal grandmother, the house, the store and her Chinese garden. 
I loved the Cantonese Opera music she played on 33 1/3 records or on tape cassettes. I never forgot the experience of attending a live Cantonese Opera at the Freemasons in Calgary Chinatown when I was about 6 years old. Cheers to Cantonese Opera...and you can also listen to Cantonese Opera sung in English these days.

Patricia, my dearest sister is the pearl of our old family She and Ken offered a lot of support to my parents and helped me to have a better life in Canada---they were the sponsors for my immigration.
Unfortunately, on December 18, she suddenly passed away in peace .
It is a great loss for everyone! She was very kind, friendly and nice to everyone, gaining all the respects and praises. She will live in our hearts forever! I sincerely thank my brother in law and his family , plus all the relatives and friends for their love and care for my sister!

I have such wonderful memories of Aunt Pat, going back to your family’s first visit to Vancouver in the late 1960s. I was truly blessed to have had the opportunity to grow up knowing her and your family, and benefit from her generosity and kindness when I relocated to Alberta for a couple of summers. 

Our family (which is your extended family in Vancouver) is deeply saddened and express our heartfelt condolences on the passing of our remarkable auntie. Cherish and celebrate the many great memories of her and carry on her incredible spirit.

We remember Aunt Pat was a very cheerful ,  kind and loving lady. Aunt Pat and Uncle Ken were so thoughtful and welcoming us during our visits to Calgary. Aunt Pat's smiling face and cooking will be deeply missed.

Pat's tomato harvest from saved seeds, October 2023.  Nurture. For years her Chinese gardener friends also nurtured Pat by sharing their harvests of Bok Choy, green peas, tomatoes, Chong ho, etc. And shared home cooked meals, too.

I had the wonderful pleasure and honour of meeting Pat and Ken on several of their visits to Diana and Max in Vancouver. I was immediately struck by Pat’s personal warmth and her love for Diana. 

The deep love, affection, commitment and respect between Pat and Ken were always present and aspirational. Pat and Ken’s remarkable immigrant experience grounded and shaped by their love for each other, strength, stoicism, work ethic and optimism allowed their family to flourish and thrive. 

Pat delighted in both the growing, harvesting, cooking, eating and sharing of food; always a universal mark of a true nurturer. I know her legacy of kindness, generosity of heart and much praised home style recipes strongly lives in Diana. 

I had so hoped to see Pat again and am especially sad that this will not come to pass. You are very missed, Pat.

May Pat’s family and friends find strength, peace and comfort in their wonderful memories and shared stories of Pat. As Diana’s mom would say, enjoy life.
