My heart goes out to all of Minetta's family and friends!  I am so saddened by this news.  I was very fortunate to be Minetta's Principal during her junior high years.  Minetta had such a curious mind and big heart!  She stood out from all her peers with her care for the world, not just herself!  Her very strong beliefs and principles guided her at such a young age.  Minetta is the one student I have kept in touch with over time and of course I was thrilled that she decided on teaching as her career.   I would have loved to have Minetta as a teacher on my staff!  What a world of life's experience she must have brought to her students.   Big hugs to everyone!

We have many great memories of Min that were adventurous and high energy!  Whether it was backpack or hiking trips we could always count on a lot of laughter and fun!   One of the backpack trips we remember was to Bluerock Mountain with her black lab called Joey.  Other trips were skiing at Rogers Pass and Kananaskis.

I was truly fortunate to have worked with Minetta at Cappy Smart School. She had a zest for life, a passion for teaching, and a deep love for her students. Minetta was a wealth of knowledge on all subjects. 
She recently gave a heartfelt Land Acknowledge where she relayed her family's heritage and of course her love for the land that brought me to tears. 
I appreciated how vulnerable Minetta was, how she wore her heart on her sleeve and gave herself so freely and so beautifully to all those around her. She has left a tremendous hole in our community and hearts. We miss her dearly but will remember her free spirit, warm smile, and effervescent presence.

My condolences to Min's family and closest friends, what a terrible loss.  I'm so sorry to hear.  I knew Minetta well in junior high, where I mostly saw her sewn-to-the-hip with her friend Nina, and I remember Minetta being quite the shining light.  Always ready to hype everyone up with maximum optimism and energy, a contagious laugh, and an intense passion for outdoorsy activities and environmentalism.  I've never met anyone else as passionate as Minetta, and I'm so glad to learn about the impact she had after junior high with the community and her students.  I'll always think of her fondly for her kind and considerate heart.

My condolences to the family and friends. I went ski touring with Min a few times years ago. She was such a positive, vibrant, and caring person. I was new to the sport and she took the time to share her knowledge. Her kindness made an impact on me and I was very sorry to hear of her passing.

I was fortunate enough to work with Minetta for a short time. The only memories I have of Minetta are only positive ones. During my time at Cappy Smart Elementary School, whenever I had questions related to literacy, I knew I could always go to Minetta. She was a pro at literacy development for students. You can tell Minetta was passionate about literacy, her eyes would light up anytime I asked for activities and strategies that I could implement in my class. As we worked together, I got to know Minetta and learned she had a passion for the outdoors, her dogs and trying new things. She laughed at everyone's jokes and had a great sense of humour.

I was one of the lucky teachers who worked with Minetta at Cappy Smart School for the past 4 years. I send my deepest condolences to you and your family. We love Minetta dearly and our school will not be the same without her. She had an energy I was truly envious of. She was so dedicated, creative, and knowledgeable and she gave so much of herself to our students and school.  Her smile was infectious and I was in awe of her sense of adventure and her knowledge of all things in nature. Her desire to learn all there was about supporting students who were struggling to learn, and her ability to apply this knowledge was incomparable. Minetta was the most genuine, and generous person I have ever met and she always knew how to make a person feel special. She lived the most authentic life; recognizing the value of time and never wasting a single moment. Minetta truly was one of a kind, and I feel absolutely blessed to have known her. Our school is grieving along with you and our hearts go out to you all. ❤️

I worked with Minetta at Cappy Smart School for 4 years. My first memory of her is eating lunch together in the staff room, where I immediately heard about her passion for biology and teaching kids with learning disabilities. From then on, I saw her passion and dedication to her students. She was constantly pushing students to their full potential, and was always seeking collaboration with her peers. She was always considering inclusivity, and made the EES kids in our school feel included. She organized swimming lessons for the entire school! This loss is felt deeply at Cappy, but also by me personally. She and I laughed together and worked well together. We shared a passion for special needs education, the love of mountains and back country skiing, and we shared a birthday (same year too). My heart goes out to her family: parents, siblings, partner, and dogs. I hope these memories help you get through this impossible time.
